Lagos, Nigeria, 5 December 2025-Rapper, singer and songwriter Elestee releases new EP “Mentally I’m Here”, alongside brand-new single “On a Low” featuring the Grammy-nominated Ayra Starr. This comes after her sassy, aspirational single “Designer Baby”.
“Mentally I’m Here” reflects Elestee’s state of mind through the stages of love and heartbreak. Comprising six tracks in total, the project is an endearing combination of youthful angst and playful introspection. Produced by Louddaa, the focus single “On a Low” is a spicy number detailing a less-than-ideal romantic situation. The EP also comes with two additional new songs—melodic rap track “On The Road” and “Comfortable”, a sultry RnB tune.
Speaking on the project, Elestee says— “‘Mentally I’m here’ is a project that was curated to express where I’m at in my head at the moment. It’s just as literal as the title claims. Exploring love and liberation in my generation, all the drama that comes with it and what I’m leaving behind.”
After a three year development process in the Mavin academy that has birthed some of Africa’s biggest and brightest stars, Elestee was finally unveiled as Mavin’s latest signee in 2023. She marked this pivotal moment with the release of her self-titled debut EP, which was described by the Guardian as a testament to her “impressive range, artistic intelligence, and sonic talent”.
Showing no signs of slowing down, the Bonny Island Native released a follow up EP less than six months after her debut. “POISN” cemented Elestee as a true musical chameleon with a razor-sharp pen to boot. Her striking debut earned her a Rookie of The Year win at the 2023 Galaxy Awards, and she was recently named as part of the NME 100 emerging artists to watch in 2025. Elestee consistently finds her place in the sound of Afrobeats through a brilliant infusion of rap flexing through a range of genres, resulting in gems like “Many Men”, “Selina” featuring Major AJ, Liar Liar and her recent single Space ft. port-Harcourt born duo Ajebo Hustlers.
